Poster number 6 from the Icons of Architecture series features the Church of St. Joseph in Zabrze, designed by Dominikus Böhm and completed in 1931. The church in Zabrze is an exceptional example of modernist sacred architecture. The architect created a church-factory inspired by the architecture of Rome and early Christianity. The arcades of the front elevation resemble aqueducts, behind which lies an entrance plaza reminiscent of early Christian temples. The interior also reflects Christian symbolism with seven arches, seven windows, and seven stained glass panels - each representing one of the seven sacraments.
